We are currently providing more than $5 million in research grant funding to 13 scientists in Wisconsin who are exploring ways to prevent, treat, detect and cure cancer. Specifically, we are providing:
- $ 3,651,000 to the University of Wisconsin for cancer research
- $ 1,121,000 to the Medical College of Wisconsin
- $ 49,599,471 -total amount in Wisconsin since we began funding
-
We’ve funded research that helped develop the Pap test, mammography, the prostate specific antigen (PSA) test, chemotherapy to treat childhood leukemia, and established the link between smoking and lung cancer.

Cancer Prevention Study-3 – (CPS-3) the Society’s national research study that will enroll a diverse population of half a million people across the United States to help researchers better understand the lifestyle, environmental, and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer. Wisconsin held 2 enrollments for CPS-3 in 2009, in Wauwatosa and Fond du Lac. In 2010, we will hold 2 more study enrollments in Kenosha and Eau Claire.
