Fundamentally Sound Men's Acapella Group was started at UW-Madison in Fall of 2005 as a joint venture between two hardworking students who loved to sing. Stuart Covi and Vince Machi decided it was finally time to begin an official group amongst his close friends, with whom he had informally been singing the past few years. Meanwhile, after seeing that his new campus of 40,000 supported only 3 a cappella groups, Machi believed there had to be more than 20 good male singers at UW and embarked on a journey to find them. As luck would have at, Covi’s colleague, Paul Weyker ’07 got in touch with Alex Aderman ’09, who Machi was simulataneously recruiting for his group. Given their groups’ common goals, Covi and Machi decided to team up and became the first president and director, respectively, of Fundamentally Sound.
Just three years after a bunch of ragtag guys were singing scales on the front porch of a dormitory, Fundamentally Sound has become a remarkably well known brand on the UW campus and is proud to present its first studio album…Stratosphere.
Despite the last original Fundamentally Sound founding member's graduation, the legacy lives on. They are excited to be part of the American Cancer Society's vision and help support Coaches vs. Cancer, a great cause that is near and dear to many of their hearts.
